SUBMERGED
AND
TREASURES OF THE LOST VILLAGES
MOVIES BY JOHN EARLE AND FRANK BURRELL
|
|
On August 10, 1954, and sod- turning ceremony took place in Cornwall, Ontario, and Massena, New York, that symbolize both an end and a new beginning. It marked the official start of two incredible construction projects: the international St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project. It also meant the disappearance of six villages and three hamlets which lay in the water's path. These became known as the lost villages. In "Submerged," John Earl and Frank Burrell have given the former residents of the lost villages, not only a glimpse of the underwater artifacts of their beloved villages but an opportunity to take a trip back home.
